If reports are to be believed, the model has been accused by a priest named Pandit Ramesh Joshi of the Sai Dham temple in Kandivali, of borrowing a sum of Rs 40,000 two years ago and not returning it.

Priest claims that despite requesting her repeatedly she has not returned the money. On Tuesday, the priest filed a complaint to the Samta Nagar police station.

Ramesh Joshi informed that on December 5, 2015, Arshi along with her publicist came to his temple and told him that someone stole her purse and mobile phone. She asked him for some money telling him that she was going through financial crisis and needs the money for her medical treatment. Ramesh gave her Rs 40,000 in cash. However, after that Khan stopped visiting the temple and also avoided his phone calls. She assured him that she will give him the money later when she receives it from the producers, however, Joshi never got his money back.

Joshi told the tabloid, “Arshi was like my daughter; I helped her in a time of distress, but she broke my trust. I seek the police’s intervention so I can get my money back.”

Anil Mane, senior inspector of Samata Nagar police station, confirmed that he had received the pandit’s application and added that the police would look into the matter and register a non-cognisable offence.

However, Arshi Khan has rubbished the allegation and accused the priest for sexually harassing and extorting money from her. In her complaint, she alleged that he referred to her as his daughter and, under that pretext, he would touch her inappropriately.

Arshi Khan’s publicist said, “The allegation is completely baseless. Arshi does not owe any money to Pandit Ramesh, he is just trying to extort her. The police has not informed us of any complaint. We will soon file a complaint against Pandit Ramesh, as he is spreading rumours and harassing Arshi.”
