The year 2017 is more than half passed. In this year, we have lost many popular celebrities from the industry. Some found hanging themselves or some died due to a heart attack or in a car accident. Take a look at the Indian celebrities who died in 2017.
1. Vinod Khanna
Veteran actor Vinod Khanna (70), who had been admitted to HN Reliance Foundation and Research Centre in Girgaon, Mumbai breathed his last on April 27 due to advanced bladder carcinoma. He was 70. Khanna, who was undoubtedly the finest actors in the Hindi film industry. Vinod, a sitting Bharatiya Janata Party MP from Gurdaspur district of Punjab, was born on 6 October, 1946. He was seen in 141 films between 1968 and 2013.
2. Inder Kumar
Bollywood and TV actor Inder Kumar, known for his role in Salman Khan’s film ‘Wanted’, passed away at 28 July, at 2 am due to heart attack at his residence in Mumbai. He was 44 years old. The actor reportedly suffered a heart attack. Inder has been a famous model during 90’s and has featured in many hit songs. He has acted in more than 20 Bollywood films. He rose to fame with Salman Khan’s film ‘Wanted’. Some of his films are ‘Khiladiyon Ka Khiladi’, ‘Agnipath’, ‘Tumko Na Bhool Payenge’.
3. Sitaram Panchal
Bollywood actor Sitaram Panchal, best known for his performance in Irrfan Khan’s Paan Singh Tomar, passed away on 10 August, 2017 after a three-year long battle with kidney and lung cancer. He was 54. Panchal worked with Akshay Kumar (Jolly LLB 2), Irrfan Khan (Paan Singh Tomar) and several other A-listers of the industry. Sitaram has also worked in Bandit Queen, Slumdog Millionnaire, Peepli Live and The Legend of Bhagat Singh.
4. Om Puri
Veteran actor Om Puri has passed away after a massive heart attack on January 6. The actor was 66. The Padma Shri-winning actor died of a heart attack at his home in Mumbai. Puri was awarded an honorary OBE for his contribution to the British film industry in 2004. He was known for his performances in critically acclaimed films like “Ardh Satya” and “Paar” and the satirical “Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro”.
5. Reema Lagoo
Famous Bollywood and Television actress Reema Lagoo, who was lastly working on Star Plus’ hit show “Naamkaran” passed away on May 18 morning due to cardiac arrest. She was 59. She was best known for playing the on-screen mother to protagonists in hit films like ‘Maine Pyar Kiya’, ‘Hum Aapke Hain Koun’, ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’ and ‘Hum Saath-Saath Hain’.
6. Sonika Chauhan
Model-actress Sonika Chauhan passed away in a horrible road accident on April 29 morning when she was travelling in with friend, actor Vikram Chatterjee. Accident took place in front of Lake Mall in Kolkata. According to sources, Vikram himself was driving a white Toyota (WB12C9755) when he lost control at Rashbehari avenue. The car crashed into the divider on the road and turned topsy-turvy. Both of them were rushed to hospital but by the time they reached, model was no more. Doctors declared that she died on the spot. Sonika was a popular face in the modeling industry and was also an anchor in ‘Pro Kabbadi League’. Apart from sports anchoring, Sonika was also a VJ on channel V.
7. Bhupathi Bharath Raj
Tollywood actor Ravi Teja’s brother, Bhupathi Bharath Raj (49), himself an actor, died after the car he was travelling collided with a lorry in Shamshabad area in Hyderabad, on 25th June. The front portion of the car was completely damaged due to the impact of the collision. The police took some time to identify the body after extricating it, since the face and the body got deformed in the impact of the crash. While Bharat has appeared in numerous Telugu films including Aa Mugguru and Jump Jilani, his brother Ravi Teja is the more famous star. He has appeared in several hit films like Kick 2 and Bengal Tiger.

8. Rekha Sindhu
TV actress Rekha Sindhu was killed in a car accident on Friday, 5 May 2017 at the busy Chennai-Bengaluru Highway. The popular actress, who was going to Bengaluru, was accompanied by three other people – Abhishek Kumaran (22), Jayankandran (23) and Rakshan (20) and reports say that all of them were killed in the car crash. Rekha Sindhu, worked as a model (in addition to TV) and was a resident of the Banaswadi locality in Bengaluru. She was also seen in several advertisements. She was known for her work in Tamil and Kannada TV shows.
9. Anjali Shrivastava
Anjali Shrivastava was a bhojpuri Actress & Model, she had done some bhojpuri movies with Khesari Lal Yadav. she found dead at her home in Parimal Society on Juhu Road. The 29-year-old actress found hanging from the ceiling fan from a sari, presumably having committed suicide. Having worked in several Bhojpuri films, she acted last in the recent action-comedy film, “Kehu Ta Dilme Ba”.
10. Kritika Choudhary
Model and TV actress Kritika Choudhary was found dead in her Andheri West apartment on June 13, 2017. The police suspect that the 23-year-old was murdered in her apartment. A complaint was launched by her neighbors due to foul smell emitting from her flat. A day after her post-mortem report confirmed that Kritika was murdered.
11. Pradeep Kumar
Popular Telugu TV actor Pradeep Kumar allegedly committed suicide as he hanged himself at his house in Hyderabad on 3 May 2017. His wife and a friend found him hanging from a ceiling fan at home, after which he was declared dead at the hospital. A 29-year-old Pradeep has acted in several serials and plays the lead role in ‘Sumangali’.

13. Bitasta Saha
The 28-year-old actor Bitasta Saha was found dead in her apartment on February 7, 2017. Saha was found hanging in an apartment beside EM Bypass in the eastern fringe of Kolkata. According to police sources, there were sharp cut marks on both hands of the actress. No suicide note has been found.
14. Arjit Lavania
TV actor Arjit Lavania, who was seen as Nandi in Colors TV show “Mahakali: Ant Hi Aarambh Hai”, got killed in a road accident on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad highway on 19 August, 2017. His car reportedly, crashed into a container on Mumbai-Ahmedabad highway near Palghar Manor town.
15. Gagan Kang
TV actor Gagan Kang, who was also with Arjit Lavania when the accident occur on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad highway on Saturday. Gagan was seen as Lord Indra in Colors TV show “Mahakali: Ant Hi Aarambh Hai” on 19 August, 2017. His car reportedly, crashed into a container on Mumbai-Ahmedabad highway near Palghar Manor town.
