The veteran actor Rishi Kapoor is known to be someone who is sharp-tongued and doesn’t mince his words. This time, the actor is news again as he has landed himself in trouble. According to a report in TOI, Khar police has registered an FIR against Kapoor for ‘illegally’ cutting a tree.
Although Rishi had taken the permission to trim the tree, but the contractor who was hired by the actor trimmed the tree more than what was permitted and chopped off its branches.
Police has also registered the FIR against the contractor under Section 8, read with Section 21 of the Maharashtra Protection and Preservation of Tree Act.

When the actor was asked about this he said, “I had taken all required permission to do so, which I have provided them to see. This is plain harassment from jealous neighbours which was expected.”
Earlier, BMC had issued a show-cause notice to Kapoor for cutting the tree after taking permission to trim it. BMC was not convinced with his explanation and decided to file a case against him.
Activist D Stalin is happy that action is being taken against Kapoor as he was quoted by the portal saying, “It’s encouraging, at least some action has been taken. Such things are happening everywhere in the city but BMC doesn’t pay attention. Near the Collector’s office, a tree was chopped similarly. I raised the issue but no action was taken. Government agencies promptly act in cases involving celebrities Rishi Kapoor or Kapil Sharma to get public attention and show they are working. Otherwise, they don’t bother about violations.”
