After much speculation on Neil Nitin Mukesh’s role in Madhur Bhandarkar’s ‘Indu Sarkar,‘ it is finally confirmed that the actor will essay the role of late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi’s younger son, the late Sanjay Gandhi in the film, based on the 1975 Emergency.

While the film has the name Indu in its title, it was earlier communicated that the film will not have a direct reference to the late prime minister, Indira Gandhi.

Both the actor and the director were tight lipped about the former’s character portrayal, but the recently leaked image confirms Neil’s role as Sanjay Gandhi. Supriya Vinod will be seen playing Indira Gandhi in the flick.

“Neil has been doing a lot of reading for the film to ensure he is able to deliver what the film of this magnitude demands. Getting his on-screen look took close to six months to perfect, with prosthetic make-up experts flown in from abroad,” says a source.

‘Indu Sarkar’ also stars Kirti Kulhari and ‘ Ahalya’ fame Tota Roy Chowdhury.

Music composers Anu Malik and Bappi Lahiri have also joined hands, for the first time, to create music for ‘Indu Sarkar,’ which went on floors in the first week of December.

The film is based on Indira Gandhi’s declaration of Emergency in India during the 21-month period from 1975 to 1977, and is likely to released by mid 2017, after being shot in New Delhi, Mumbai and Pune.
