The serial, Jamai Raja, looks loosely inspired from the movie with the same name. The film starring actress Madhuri Dixit, Hema Malini and Anil Kapoor.

5. Jodha-Akbar

This period drama was inspired by the movie of same name, which released in 2008 and was a blockbuster. This T.V. show released in 2013, and after ruling the TRPs for two years, went off air in 2015.
