The actor took to Twitter as promised to inform fans about his health condition post-diagnosis. In the tweet, the actor wrote, “The unexpected makes us grow, which is what the past few days have been about. Learning that I have been diagnosed with NeuroEndocrine Tumour as of now has admittedly been difficult, but the love and strength of those around me and that I found within me has brought me to a place of hope. The journey of this is taking me out of the country, and I request everyone to continue sending their wishes. As for the rumours that were floated NEURO is not always about the brain and googling is the easiest way to do research ? To those who waited for my words, I hope to be back with more stories to tell.”

Wondering what is Neuroendocrine Tumour?  Well, Neuroendocrine tumours are abnormal growths that begin in specialized cells called neuroendocrine cells. Neuroendocrine cells have traits similar to nerve cells and to hormone-producing cells. Neuroendocrine tumours are rare and can occur anywhere in the body. Most neuroendocrine tumours occur in the lungs, appendix, small intestine, rectum and pancreas. Neuroendocrine tumours can be noncancerous (benign) or cancerous (malignant). Diagnosis and treatment of neuroendocrine tumours depend on the type of a tumour, its location, whether it produces excess hormones, how aggressive it is and whether it has spread to other parts of the body.

We wish Irrfan for speedy recovery!
