After months of financial trouble, India’s first private airline Jet Airways has decided to temporarily suspend operations.
According to ET, a report said that the troubled carrier made a loss of Rs 21 crore daily, and has at least Rs 15,000 crore of debt and dues.
The move came after Jet’s last ditch attempt to raise interim loans to keep the airline running, failed. CEO Vinay Dube had approached the lenders with an appeal for Rs 400 crore. The banks refused to release any funds without additional collateral.
