Hrithik Roshan and Yami Gautam-starrer “Kaabil” has witnessed a massive growth in its second day collections due to the Republic Day holiday. The revenge drama, which was off to a decent start of Rs 10.43 crore, has raked in Rs 18.63 crore on Thursday.
Hrithik Roshan might have fumbled on his first day at the box office, but it looks like Kaabil is picking up the pace. While the movie only earned Rs 10.43 crore on Wednesday (day 1), it has now almost doubled its earnings, by picking up Rs 18.67 crore on its second day.
While SRK’s gangster film “Raees” began its run on an impressive Rs 20.42 crore and picked up another Rs 26.30 crore on its second day, its increase wasn’t as much as Kaabil’s.
“Kaabil”, which is clashing with Raees, is at a bit of a disadvantage since it has lesser screens and lower distribution of shows. However, the collections of Hrithik-Yami’s film have picked up momentum and are expected to get a further boost over the weekend.
Kaabil, directed by Sanjay Gupta, revolves around a blind couple, Rohan (Hrithik) and Supriya (Yami). Their little world is shaken up when Supriya is sexually assaulted. How Rohan avenges the rape of his wife forms the story.
Hrithik’s portrayal of a visually-challenged man is getting rave reviews and the actor himself called the film his career-best.
