Kamya Punjabi, who released a short film featuring Pratyusha Banerjee, said, “We wanted to do something good for our friend but then some people came in between. How are they involved? If you truly loved her and say you cried every night for her, I don’t think you would’ve done this. You would’ve given love to the film, not controversy.”
Pratyusha’s mother Soma Banerjee said the actress was not in a live-in relationship with her boyfriend Rahul Raj Singh. Soma also said “Rahul created emotional pressure on her daughter and killed her”.

Punjabi, who was a close friend of the late Banerjee, faced a defamation case from Singh and a stay order from the Dindoshi sessions court on a short film titled, “Hum Kuch Keh Na Sake”. The story of the 18-minute short film (produced by Stay Tuned Media) revolves around the depression and ego that drives a young girl to commit suicide.
While the late Pratyusha acted the female lead, the name of the male protagonist is Rahul. Singh filed a defamation case against Punjabi assuming the character was a depiction of his personality.
