Here comes another feather to Kangana’s cap! The actress is making a debut in script-writing with Hansal Mehta’s upcoming comedy-drama, ‘Simran’.
Though she has earlier penned few scenes in her award-winning film ‘Queen’, it will be the first time she will be officially credited as co-writer along with script-writer Apurva Asrani.
Hansal is all praise for Kangana, who plays an NRI in the film. Mehta told a leading tabloid, “Kangana is an incredible talent and I’m happy that she with her collaboration has helped make ‘Simran’ a fun family film. I’ve been very impressed with her since Queen and even more so because she collaborated on the script of that lovely film. I’m thankful that after Queen we have a similar collaboration in our film.” He added, “Of course Kangana must write. She is sharp, instinctive and has a great sense of character.”

Hansal Mehta also talked about working with Kangana. He said, “Working with Kangana was intense and satisfying. She is a fine artist and a unique talent who is deeply involved in the process of filmmaking. This is a new journey in my career, one that I’m always going to remember. My producing partner, Shailesh Singh, and I have offered to co-produce Kangana’s directorial debut. It’s going to be superbly compelling. I’m still finding that script I can make next with her, maybe a ‘Simran’ sequel?”
Meanwhile, on ‘Simran’, he said: “What we have is a really fun, slice-of-life drama with a character that everybody will totally love.”
Produced by Bhushan Kumar and Shailesh Singh, the film is adapted from the life of an NRI nurse in the US named Sandeep Kaur. She was arrested for robbing banks as she had to settle her gambling debts. And you guessed it right, Kanagana will be essaying the role.
