Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahin actor Karan Oberoi arrested for raping and blackmailing woman

Actor Karan Oberoi who has worked in television series, ‘Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahin’, ‘Inside Edge’ among others was recently arrested for allegedly raping and blackmailing a woman.

According to the police, the actor-model allegedly raped the woman on the pretext of marrying her.

“Oberoi not only raped the woman and filmed the act but also demanded money from the victim threatening to release the video if she did not pay up,” they said quoting the FIR.

A report in Mumbai Mirror mentions that Oberoi met the woman in October 2016. According to the publication, the woman wrote in her FIR: “Using the video, he blackmailed me and took money from me. However, whenever I asked him about marriage he kept ignoring it and would ask for more money. Recently, when I insisted on the marriage, he threatened me and said do whatever you want to do.”

An FIR was registered at Oshiwara Police Station in Mumbai under sections 376 (rape) and 384 (extortion) of the Indian Penal Code against Oberoi.

On the work front, Karan had started his television journey with Mahesh Bhatt’s Swabhimaan, where he played Bobby and later starred in shows like Saaya and Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahi. He was also a member of A Band of Boys, which was formed in 2001.
