A major fire broke out at Annapurna studio in Banjara Hills on Monday evening. The incident occurred between 5.30 and 6 pm on two film sets located on the premises of the 22-acre studio, owned by actor Akkineni Nagarjuna.
The sets were said to be empty when the incident happened and no casualties were reported so far. Four fire tenders were rushed to the spot and the exact cause for this fire accident is yet to be known, but certain reports state, it was a short circuit problem.
A Times of India report stated, that the house that was part of Manam got destroyed in the fire. Manam was a special movies as it starred the Akkineni of all three generations – Akkineni Nageswara Rao, Nagarjuna and Naga Chaitanya. Another report states that Chiranjeevi’s upcoming film -Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy’s sets incurred serious damage as well.

Nagarjuna Akkineni’s younger son Akhil later tweeted:

Annapurna Studios was founded by Akkineni Nageswara Rao, twenty two years ago. Apart from producing and distributing films, it also provides other facilities that vary from editing, dubbing, outdoor sets, sets construction. The studio was named after the veteran actor’s wife – Annapurna Akkineni. The studio is now run by Nagarjuna.
