Shah Rukh Khan was on a train journey from Mumbai to Delhi to promote his film Raees. He was on-board August Kranti Express, which crossed stations namely Vapi, Surat, Vadodara. Unfortunately, tragedy struck at Vadodara station after a near-stampede broke out and caused casualties.
The fans gathered at the station, to catch a glimpse of the superstar, were in a huge uncontrollable number. Police had to resort to lathi charge at a point to disperse and gain control over the massive crowd.

Social activist Farid Khan Pathan of Hatikhana area of Vadodara, who arrived at the railway platform with his wife and daughter as the family was an avid follower of the actor, fell unconscious after suffering a cardiac arrest at the railway platform. He was rushed to hospital where he was declared dead on arrival, his family members confirmed.
Earlier, reports said he felt suffocated during a stampede at the railway station and then suffered a heart attack. The police resorted to lathi-charge to disperse the crowd during which some persons sustained minor wounds on their head and face.
Apart from Farid, there was another man injured in the mayhem. A few other including some policemen were also injured in the mayhem, reportedly. They have been admitted to the SSG hospital, and are undergoing treatment.
Also, present on the train with SRK are Sunny Leone, Ritesh Sidhwani, Rahul Dholakia, and many media personnel.
