Actor Mark Blum, who was recently seen in popular Netflix series You in the role of Mr Mooney, passed away in the US due to complications from the coronavirus. He was 69.

He was admitted to the New York-Presbyterian Hospital. The news was confirmed by Fox News that quoted Blum’s widow, Janet Zarish, saying he passed away on March 25 from the complications out of the coronavirus.

The news of his death was also shared by Rebecca Damon, the executive vice-president of Screen Actors Guild – American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA).

“It is with such deep sorrow that I’m writing to share the news that our friend and former board member Mark Blum has passed away as a result of complications from the coronavirus.”

“Mark was a dedicated Screen Actors Guild and SAG-AFTRA board member serving from 2007-2013,” Damon tweeted on Thursday.

Blum was a fixture of the New York theatre community, and appeared on Broadway in Neil Simon’s Lost in Yonkers, Gore Vidal’s The Best Man and many more, reported TheWrap.

In Hollywood, Blum is best known for portraying the husband of Rosanna Arquette’s character in 1985’s “Desperately Seeking Susan”.

On the television front, Blum is still remembered for starring in two hits series — “Mozart in the Jungle” and Netflix’s “You”.
