Bollywood – the world of glamor and glitz, pomp and show, controversies and scandals is not meant for the weak. It takes guts to survive in this industry where you are constantly under the scanner and a slightest mistake on your part can give a helluva masala to the media for the next one year. There are many who tried their luck in this uber-competitive industry but failed to survive for long. Here’s is a list of bollywood actress who disappeared from the limelight and how they looks now.
1. Namrata Shirodkar
Remember this actress, Namrata Shirodkar, from famous film ‘Vaastav’. Well, the former Miss India had vanished from the limelight post her marriage to South superstar, Mahesh Babu in 2005. She made her Hindi film debut in 1998 with Jab Pyaar Kisise Hota Hai in a cameo role, but she gained fame from the film Vaastav. Later, she appeared in many films but, she can’t make her mark in bollywood. Namrata is away from acting post her marriage. Currently, she is the personal manger to her husband Mahesh Babu. She takes care of his styling, brand endorsements and film-marketing as well.
2. Ayesha Jhulka
Ayesha Jhulka was quite a sensation in Bollywood during the ’90s and delivered several hits including ‘Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar‘ and ‘Khiladi.’ She retired when she was at the peak of her career. According to her “I might as well leave when I am doing well rather than wait to go down and get frustrated. I wanted to retire at my peak and enjoy the other side of the world”. In 2003, she got married with construction tycoon Sameer Vashi. Ayesha, who started her career at the age of 11, done many hits film like ‘Kohra’, ‘Kurbaan’, ‘Balmaa’, ‘Sangram’ etc.
3. Sandali Sinha
Sandali Sinha is an Indian Bollywood actress and model. Her acting in Tum Bin brought her attention. Sandali has only appeared in 4 to 5 films. Sandali married Kiran Salaskar, a businessman, in November 2005. Kiran Salaskar is Promoter Director in Impresario Entertainment & Hospitality which owns brands like Mocha , SaltWater Grill , SaltWater Cafe , Smoke House Deli , The Tasting Room , Stone Water Grill and many more restaurants and cafes.
4. Pratibha Sinha
Pratibha Sinha recognized for her song ‘pardesi pardesi jaana nahi’ from ‘Raja Hindustani’. She made her bollywood debut opposite Sujoy Mukherjee in the 1992 film Mehboob Mere Mehboob. Pratibha did not work in more films. She was last seen in the film Le Chal Apne Sang in 2000. After this movie, she quits acting and said goodbye to the film industry forever. But today, the actress has changed completely. Pratibha is a daughter of veteran actress Mala Sinha.
5. Mamta Kulkarni
Former B-town actress Mamta Kulkarni enjoyed several commercial success in her career however she was time and again alleged to have Mafia Connection. There where speculations that the actress used Chhota Rajan to grab many roles in 1990s. Afterwards she got married to drug mafia Vikram Goswami. Lately the two were been caught for a small period of time for drug trafficking. She appeared in films like Tirangaa, Karan Arjun, Krantiveer, Kismat, Naseeb and China Gate, etc.

6. Meenakshi Seshadri
An Indian model, film actress and dancer, Meenakshi Seshadri, who is remembered for her performances in films, including “Bewafai”, “Meri Jung”, “Ghayal”, and “Damini” among others. She went on to establish herself as one of Hindi cinema’s leading actresses in the 1980s and 1990s, acknowledged for several of her performances, her beauty, and her accomplished dancing. She retired from cinema after marrying investment banker Harish Mysore. She had a civil wedding, a registered marriage, in New York. Meenakshi lives in Plano, Texas and runs her dance school “Cherish Dance School”. A documentary was also made on her life called Meenakshi Accept Her Wings, the documentary depicted the transitional lifestyle of dancer, actress to a homemaker.
7. Anu Agarwal
The actress rose to fame in Bollywood with her debut blockbuster film, Aashiqui. For Anu, being in the film industry was not a priority at all, as she had reportedly never dreamt of being an actress. It was filmmaker, Mahesh Bhatt, who apparently convinced her to be a part of Aashiqui and launched her in Bollywood. And soon after the success of Aashqui, film offers started pouring in. But things took a turn for the worse when in 1999, she met with an accident that left her half-paralysed. She also reportedly suffered from a memory loss for some time.
8. Ashwini Bhave
Bhave was first noticed on television in a Hindi Sci-Fi serial Antariksh. She appeared in hindi films like Meera Ka Mohan, Honeymoon, Sainik and Bandhan. Her career spans over 40 films with several critically acclaimed performances in films. The actress is married to software engineer, Kishore Bopardikar and settled in San Francisco.
9. Tanushree Dutta
Femina Miss India Universe, Tanushree made her acting debut in 2005, appearing in Chocolate and Aashiq Banaya Apne. Both Chocolate and Aashiq Banaya Apne were box office failures. She had done many films like Risk, Good Boy, Bad Boy, Speed, Saas Bahu Aur Sensex but failed to impress the audience.
10. Urvashi Sharma
Urvashi Sharma, who is an Indian actress, is known for her debut movie ‘Naqaab’ (2007) starring Akshay Khanna and Bobby Deol. After this, she has appeared in movies like ‘Baabarr’, ‘Khatta Meetha’, ‘Aakrosh’ and ‘Chakradhaar’ that didn’t do well at the box office. While in 2012, she got married to an entrepreneur Sachiin Joshi. She left the industry after her marriage and is now a mother of two kids.
