Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone turns 32 today. The actress was born on 5 January 1986 in Copenhagen, Denmark to Konkani-speaking parents. Her father, Prakash, is a former badminton player of international repute, and her mother, Ujjala, is a travel agent. Her younger sister, Anisha, is a golfer. The family relocated to Bangalore, India when Padukone was a year old.

She was educated at Bangalore’s Sophia High School and completed her pre-university education at Mount Carmel College. She subsequently enrolled at the Indira Gandhi National Open University for a Bachelor of Arts degree in sociology but later quit it due to scheduling conflicts with her modelling career.

From mere television commercials of Liril-Limca-Close UP, Deepika Padukone soon emerged as a prominent figure in leading fashion shows and calendar covers.

Deepika Padukone’s screen presence created an aura that promised that this young woman was meant for bigger things. Soon, she was seen doing many more commercials and then landed a spot in Himesh Reshammiya’s music video.

After appearing in music video, the actress starts getting various films offers.

After Om Shanti Om, The actress appears in films like Bachna Ae Haseeno (2008) and Chandni Chowk To China (2009), Love Aaj Kal (2009), Karthik Calling Karthik (2010), Break Ke Baad (2010).

In 2012, her bollywood film Cocktail marked a significant turning point in her career. Her role in the film made everyone recognise her strength as an actor.

Race 2 (2013), Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani (2013), Chennai Express (2013), Happy New Year (2014), Piku (2015), Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela (2013) are films which have tasted massive success at the box office, with a massive chunk of the success being Deepika’s handiwork.

Deepika made her big Hollywood debut as one of Vin Diesel’s love interests in January 2017’s xXx Return of Xander Cage. The film might not have been a money spinner at the international box office, but it got Deepika noticed.

As of 2018, Deepika Padukone is easily among the most successful female actors in the Hindi film industry.
