Veteran actress Moushumi Chatterjee joins BJP recently in the presence of party leaders including BJP national president Amit Shah, Mukul Roy and Kailash Vijayvargiya.
According to reports, Chatterjee may contest the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
“I want to work with the BJP,” she was quoted as telling reporters.
Ms Chatterjee also said that she was an admirer of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Earlier, the actress had fought the 2004 Lok Sabha elections on a Congress ticket from Kolkata northeast seat, but lost.
Moushumi Chatterjee joins BJP
The 70-year-old has acted in several Hindi and Bengali films. Some of her famous Hindi movies include Manzil, Anuraag, Angoor and Ghayal. Her last flick in Bollywood was Deepika-Bachchan starrer ‘Piku’.
Chatterjee was born in Calcutta. Her father Prantosh Chattopadhyaya was in the Army. She is married to Jayant Mukherjee (son of famous playback singer Hemant Kumar).

The BJP has been working to win over eminent personalities from different walks of life in the eastern state where it has emerged as a main challenger to the Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress.
Another actor, Rupa Ganguly, had joined the BJP in 2015. She is now a Rajya Sabha member.
