The trailer of the much-anticipated “Naam Shabana” is out, and Taapsee Pannu kills with more than her looks. Prequel to the 2015 hit Baby, Naam Shabana traces the induction of Shabana (Taapsee) into the secret service, her training and her intriguing covert operations.
It’s about her training and backstory before she was used as honey-trap in Nepal against international criminal Wasim Khan (Sushant Singh). The 2-minute trailer looks sleek and says that she has been trained by the best for extremely dangerous covert operations.
We also get to see Danny Denzongpa and Manoj Bajpayee as her seniors who talk about her past life and how she can contribute for Indian secret services. In fact, Akshay Kumar also makes an appearance in the trailer which seems like a deleted scene from Baby.
Taapsee’s training in mixed martial arts helps her look convincing in kicking butt. The trailer is crisp and high on drama – it begins with Shabana in happier times with her boyfriend until an incident changes everything, and makes Shabana fierce and unstoppable.
Discussing the trailer, executive Neeraj Pandey stated, “Let me put it that way – it’s (Naam Shabana) a spin-off and that one scene in Baby made an impact on the audience and that’s how we came about making a film on the character Shabana.”

Adding to this, Taapsee stated, “I might be the face of the film but nothing would have been possible if Neeraj wouldn’t have got actors like Akshay, Anupam, Danny and Prithviraj on board. I’m glad that a star like Akshay is backing the film.”
Manoj Bajpayee plays Shabana’s handler, while Anupam Kher reprises his role of Om Prakash Shukla. “Naam Shabana” is set to hit screens on March 31, 2017.
