The film will trace Asaram Bapu’s journey from a so-called godman to his conviction in 2018. Asaram Bapu was convicted of rape in 2018 and is currently serving a life sentence.

And, if reports are to be believed, actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui will be seen playing the role of Asaram in the biopic.

When the actor was asked about the same, he said, “Bohot interesting life rahi hai unki. Ek baar airport pe mila bhi tha unse. He was talking to someone on the phone. Later I spoke with him. At that time, he wasn’t in the controversy (laughs).” He further adds, “Woh apne life mein bade hi mast rehte the. He was a good orator also and to bring all of that in the performance will be a tough task.”

Producer Sunil Bohra told the publication, “I read the book and was taken in by lawyer PC Solanki who fought the case for the victims against Asaram Bapu for free. The two lady police officers — one from Jodhpur and the other from Surat — are inspiring, too. In my eyes, they are the real heroes. We will focus on these people and the rest will be based on facts. I bought the rights of the book last month. I have started meeting writers and shall lock the team soon. I want the movie to have an international appeal. The cast will be decided once the script is ready.”
