Director Vikas Bahl files a defamation case against Anurag Kashyap & Vikramaditya Motwane in Bombay High Court

Recently, filmmaker Vikas Bahl was accused of sexual harassment by a former employee of Phantom Films who used to work as a crew member with him.


If reports are to be believed, the said victim accusing Vikas Bahl of sexually assaulting her three years back during the pre-release promotional tour of their movie, Bombay Velvet.

After these allegations, Anurag Kashyap and Vikramaditya Motwane went ahead with dissolution of the production company in which Vikas was also a partner. They even gave statements against him which had prompted him to send legal notices to the two and threaten them with a civil defamation suit.

Well now, as per the latest reports, Vikas Bahl moves Bombay HC and has filed Rs 10-crore defamation suit against his former Phantom Films partners.

The suit, filed Tuesday, alleged that Mr Kashyap and Mr Motwane made “defamatory, slanderous and baseless allegations” against him due to which he has suffered irreversible damage to the reputation. He even alleged that his former partners were opportunists, who allegedly devised the whole campaign against him, and made him look responsible for the of Phantom Films.

The court has directed the partners of Phantom Films as well as the victim to remain present before it for the next hearing on Friday.

The #MeToo movement gained momentum in India after Tanushree Dutta spoke up against Nana Patekar almost two weeks ago. Recently, a lot of such cases have come to the fore, with big names like Alok Nath, Kailash Kher, Rohit Roy, Rajat Kapoor being accused of harrasement by women.
