Vidya Balan starrer ‘Begum Jaan’ was in a bit of a limbo following some friction between the film’s producers (Mukesh and Mahesh Bhatt) and its distributors.
The film was to release in March, but due to a bunch of reasons, the release date got pushed to April 14.
Produced by Play Entertainment, the film is helmed by National Award winner Srijit Mukherji, who is making his directorial debut in Bollywood.

Says a source, “There was a legal battle going on between Mukesh Bhatt and the film’s distributor because the latter couldn’t make certain payments on time. Bhatt is now trying to bring on board a corporate that can pull the team out of the situation so that the film can stick to the revised release, that is April 14.”
We tried to contact Mukesh Bhatt for a confirmation on the same, but hadn’t received a response in time.
Vidya plays the title role of the madam of a brothel in the film, which also stars Naseeruddin Shah, Rajat Kapoor, Gauahar Khan, Pallavi Sharda, Ila Arun, Ashish Vidyarthi and Chunky Pandey.
