OMG! Karni Sena attacks school after students perform on ‘Padmaavat’ song Ghoomar

Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s magnum opus ‘Padmaavat’ has been facing a lot of flack since it was announced. Now, the film has been passed by CBFC with five modifications and will now release on January 25, 2018.

The members of Shri Rajput Karni Sena and other fringe groups have been leaving no stone unturned in protesting against the release of Bhansali’s magnum opus. The Sena is particularly miffed at Ghoomar song.

Now, in a new twist to the ongoing controversy over release of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s movie Padmaavat, some members of Karni Sena allegedly attacked a school after the students performed on the Ghoomar song from the film during their Annual Day function.

The incident took place in Ratlam’s Jora district in Madhya Pradesh. The incident has left one student injured.

Nearly a dozen activists allegedly threatened the school administration, created ruckus and vandalized property. “The activists also misbehaved with parents and teachers. They broke chairs and the stage. Four people were detained after police reached the school. We have registered a case against them,” Jaora sub-divisional police officer DR Male said.

Padmavati faces several threats from Rajput Sena. The film was accused to have offensive content against Rajput community.

The film stars Deepika Padukone, Shahid Kapoor, and Ranveer Singh in the lead roles. Ranveer will be seen essaying the role of Alauddin Khilji and Shahid will step into the shoes of Maharawal Ratan Singh. Deepika will be play Padmini – the Rajput queen.
