President Ram Nath Kovind conferred the 2019 Padma awards, one of the highest civilian honors, on March 11.
Mohanlal Viswanathan, Manoj Bajpayee, Prabhu Deva, Shankar Mahadevan and Late Kader Khan are among the few names from the entertainment industry who received the prestigious award today.
Ace choreographer and filmmaker Prabhu Deva, who has worked in many hit films over the years, has been conferred with the Padma Shri award for his contribution in the field of Art – Dance.

Meanwhile, Mohanlal has been awarded the Padma Bhushan for his contribution in the world of cinema. With a career spanning over four decades, the actor, producer and singer has worked in over 300 films.
Music maestro Shankar Mahadevan, on the other hand, has been awarded the Padma Shri for his contribution to Art-Vocal-Films.
Critically acclaimed actor Manoj Bajpayee was also conferred with Padma Shri. He has given many memorable performances over the years in films like Aligarh, Bandit Queen, LOC Kargil, Gangs of Wasseypur and Tevar.
Veteran actor Kader Khan, who passed away on December 31 last year, was awarded Padma Shri (Posthumous-Foreigner).
The Padma Awards – one of the highest civilian awards of the country — are conferred in three categories: the Padma Vibhushan, the Padma Bhushan and the Padma Shri.
As many as 112 “inspiring” personalities were selected for this year’s Padma awards and their names were announced on the eve of Republic Day this year. The remaining awardees are likely to be conferred the honour at another function to be held on March 16, a Home Ministry official said.
