As Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmaavat is inching towards its release date, the protest against the film seems quite growing.
Earlier, CBFC chief Prasoon Joshi has been threatened that if he enters in Jaipur, he will be beaten badly. And now according to latest reports, Harish Salve, the senior lawyer who represented the producers of “Padmaavat” in the Supreme Court, has received threats over the phone.
Mr Salve’s office received calls threatening physical harm to him. The callers claimed they were from the Karni Sena, which has led violent protests against the film “Padmaavat” and has been trying to block its release. Security has been increased at his office in Delhi and a police complaint has been filed.

On Thursday, the Supreme Court, following strong arguments made by Salve, ruled that ‘Padmaavat’ cannot be banned by states on grounds of potential law and order problems.
The members of Rajput Karni Sena and other fringe groups have been leaving no stone unturned in protesting against the release of Bhansali’s magnum opus.
The film faces several threats from Rajput Sena. The film was accused to have offensive content against Rajput community.
The film stars Deepika Padukone as Rani Padmini, Ranveer Singh as Alauddin Khilji and Shahid Kapoor as Maharawal Ratan Singh. It is slated to release on January 25.
