Pakeezah actress Geeta Kapoor, who was allegedly abandoned by her son at a Mumbai hospital halfway through treatment, was discharged from the hospital on Thursday.

Now, the actress has finally been shifted to an old age home. Producer Ashoke Pandit and Ramesh Taurani, who helped Kapoor with her medical bills, have now arranged for her stay at Jeevan Asha old age home in Andheri.

“Relieved after #GeetaKapoor ji is shifted to #JeevanAsha old age home, Andheri (W). She is smiling & soon will be absolutely fine,” tweeted Mr Pandit.

The hospital’s chief intensivist, Dr Dipendra Tripathi, signed a personal bond accepting responsibility for her well-being as no one from her family was present.

Dr Tripathi said the hardest part was to drop her off at the old-age centre. “She was clinging on to me. She did not want me to leave and held on to my hand. We had to distract her, saying her family would soon be around to take her home. It was perhaps one of the most difficult moments of my life,” said the doctor.

The nurses who took care of Kapoor for over a month were heartbroken to see her excitement while changing the hospital clothes. “She perhaps thought she was going home,” the doctor said.

Geeta was admitted to the SRV Hospital to be treated for her falling blood pressure. When his son was asked to make a deposit at the hospital, he went out on the pretext of looking for an ATM to withdraw the money, but never came back. The doctors at the hospital continued Geeta’s treatment as her condition was quite fragile. The hospital made multiple attempts to contact Geeta’s son Raja and her daughter Pooja, but their efforts yielded no results.
