Pakistan’s people pays tribute to late actor Shashi Kapoor outside Kapoor Haveli!

Legendary actor breathed his last at Kolkilaben Ambani Hospital on December 4, 2017.  The 79-year-old actor passed away after a prolonged illness. Shashi Kapoor had been suffering from a kidney ailment and had been undergoing dialysis. Mr Kapoor had been in a wheelchair for years.

The veteran actor’s sudden demise was a huge shock for his family and his industry colleagues. The star doesn’t have fans in India only, he also ruled the hearts of those in Pakistan.

After he passed away, residents of Peshawar people organised a candlelight vigil to honour Bollywood icon Shashi Kapoor on Wednesday.

Kapoor Haveli, which is now in Peshwar, Pakistan, was the place where Shashi Kapoor’s father Prithvi Kapoor lived before the family moved to Mumbai.

The Kapoor family’s ancestral home is located in the Kissa Khwani Bazaar of the old city and was constructed by Raj and Shashi Kapoor’s grandfather in 1918.

The third and youngest son of Prithviraj Kapoor, Shashi Kapoor made his Bollywood debut in 1961, as the lead actor, in the film Dharamputra. He began his career as a child artiste in the 1940s. He took on the name ‘Shashiraj’ for his roles in commercial films back in the 40s, instead of using his own name because there was another Shashi Kapoor, a child artiste, who was best known for his roles in mythological films.

Through the 1970s and 80s, Shashi Kapoor rose to stardom with films like Sharmilee, Kabhi Kabhie, Pighalta Aasmaan, etc.
