Poaching case: Salman Khan and four others summoned to appear before court on January 25

On Friday, Jodhpur court asked actors Salman Khan, Saif Ali Khan, Sonali Bendre, Neelam and Tabu to appear before it on January 25 for recording of statements in the 1998 black buck poaching case.

Chief Judicial Magistrate Dalpat Singh gave these directions after completion of examination of all the witnesses in the court.

Salman Khan is facing trial in a case of poaching of an endangered blackbucks in Kankani village here and possession of illegal arms.

The poaching incident took place during the filming of the Rajshri Productions’ film Hum Saath Saath Hain. The co-accused in this case are actors Saif Ali Khan, Sonali Bendre, Tabu and Neelam, who had accompanied the Bollywood star in the shooting of the film.

The case was filed by Bishnoi community and has been going on ever since. One of the animals was killed at Bhawad on the outskirts of Jodhpur on September 26, 1998, and the other at Ghoda Farms on September 28, 1998. Chinkara is an endangered animal accorded the highest protection under the Wildlife Protection Act.
