A police complaint has been lodged against Aam Aadmi Party leader and poet Kumar Vishvas for making derogatory remarks against women on the hugely popular TV programme – The Kapil Sharma Show.

Poets Shabina Adib and Dr Rahat Indori were also on the same television show that was aired on July 1.

During the show, Kumar said “Jis samay chunav hota hai, to apne colony mein politician logon ko badi dikkat hoti hai…matlab jis ladki se aapka affair chalao uske pati ko bhi jijaji kehna padta hai, jijaji vote de dena samaan to aap le hi gaye.”

This didn’t go well with a woman residing in Jeewan Park, Delhi who identifies herself as a homemaker and social worker. The lady in question has filed a police complaint against Kumar at Dabri Police Station, West Delhi.

The complainant has said that when she was watching the July 1 episode with her daughter,  her child turned around to ask her if she would also become an “object” after marriage and if women were only mere “objects”.

Well, this is not the first instance when Vishwas has spoken disparagingly about women. Earlier, in January 2014, he had said: “Earlier nurses used to come from Kerala, kali-peeli (dark skinned), one would naturally feel like calling them sister.”
