One of the foremost theatre personalities of Bengal, actor and director Shobha Sen, died in Kolkata on Sunday. She was 93.
Sen died due to heart failure at her South Kolkata residence. She was suffering from age-related ailments, her family said.
Sen is survived by daughter, academician Bishnupriya Dutt. After graduating from Bethune College, Sen had joined Gananatya Sangstha and played the lead female role of “Nabanna”.

She had acted in many productions of the group, including ‘Barricade’, ‘Tiner Taloyar’ and ‘Titumi’.
Sen remained associated with Leftist ideology and various Left-leaning movements throughout his life. She donated her body to a public hospital in Kolkata.
She got married to Utpal Dutt in 1960.
Sen had also starred in films such as Mrinal Sens “Ek Adhuri Kahani” and “Ek Din Pratidin”, Gautam Ghoses “Dekha” and Basu Chatterjees “Pasand Apni Apni”.
