After Bollywood couple Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor got trolled for naming their son Taimur Ali Khan Pataudi, cricketer Irfan Khan Pathan is now in the eye of a social-media storm.
Pathan, who married model Safa Baig earlier this year, was blessed with a baby boy on 20 December. Irfan Pathan announced the name of his son in a very touching post on Twitter along with a picture of his little boy holding his finger.
This name is close to our hearts n family….The name is IMRAN:) #Imrankhanpathan @iamyusufpathan pic.twitter.com/MbgKQMozDe

Assuming that the baby has been named after the Pakistani pacer, Imran Khan, trolls went overboard, criticising Irfan.
While he received many wishes for the news, there were also a few who seemed to apprehensive of what name he would choose for the baby.
A certain tweet, however, ‘advised’ him not to name his son “Daud or Yakub”. Big Congrats @IrfanPathan On being blessed from a baby boy! But bhai uska nam #Daud ya phir #Yakub mt rkh denaThis world is Ridiculous(sic.),” said the tweet.

Irfan Pathan, being the polite gentleman that he is, retorted to the statement with a rather impressive tweet that would make his fans feel all the more proud of him.
@MSDivyanshu naam chahe jo bhi rakhenge lekin Ek baat Pakki hai wo bhi papa or bade papa ki tarah is mulk ka naam Roshan hi karega #withlove

The Twitter user realised his mistake and went on to apologise to Irfan Pathan.
@IrfanPathan I am really really sorry If I said something wrong

The all-rounder showed his maturity and kindly replied back with this tweet.
@MSDivyanshu That’s ok buddy we say stuff sometimes we don’t mean it in a bad way…

However, the name has a more deeper connect than cricket. Irfan told BT, “This name is very close to our hearts. Imran is the name of my eldest brother, my mother’s first child, who was very beautiful. Unfortunately, he passed away when he was only three years old. I wanted a daughter because there are no girls in our family, but I had decided that if I have son, I’ll name him Imran.”
