Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmaavat gets leaked online, producers file complaint in cyber cell

After facing various protests, Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s magnum opus ‘Padmaavat’ has been released in cinemas and saw a huge growth in the figures just days after release. The film has been receiving a lot of love and appreciation from the audience across the quarters.

But now, another problem has come in front of producers as the film gets leaked online and it has been sharing extensively.

According to reports in Mid Day, despite the makers procuring a John Doe order (which helps to protect intellectual property rights where the persons are anonymous) from Madras High Court a couple of days ago to prevent any person or entity from infringing the film rights, the film got leaked on the internet. So yesterday, Viacom 18 (co-producer) lodged complaints with the cybercrime cells of Maharashtra, Delhi and Chandigarh. However, the cyber cell has blocked a few IP addresses.

“The cyber crime cells across the respective states have been extremely co-operative and have begun a thorough investigation into the matter. We hope that the authorities take strict and immediate action. The officials have been tracking the usual pirates. At some point, they will attempt to make pirated DVDs. The cyber cell has alerted their stringers about it, so they will be nabbed if they try it,” a spokesperson of the production house was quoted by the tabloid.

“Padmaavat was uploaded on 35 websites on Torrent and the cyber cell has pulled it down from each of them. Since most of these websites use payment methods, it will be easy to track the source.” he added.
