In a report posted by Indian express, it was revealed that the actor apparently never wanted anyone to know about his illness. During one of his interviews early this year, the superstar was asked by the constituency as to why he had stayed away for a long time. That’s when he had to reveal that he was suffering from cancer.

Being a public figure and a politician, his absence from the constituency of Gurdaspur was being noticed and hence, questions were raised. When he was finally back, the media confronted him and was asked as to why he wasn’t present at the constituency even during the Pathankot attack incident.

In the same interview, he disclosed that his cancer got detected six years back when his daughter was giving an important school exam and hence, he didn’t want to reveal it at that time.

He also mentioned that he had undergone some surgeries, and hence, did not have to go through heavy chemotherapy. The actor even had to visit Germany a few times for his treatment. He felt that he had won his battle as even the doctors had agreed that he was 80% cured. But unfortunately, he couldn’t survive.

Till the very end, Khanna was active in Bollywood. His last few memorable screen outings were in Salman Khan’s “Dabangg” series and Shah Rukh Khan’s “Dilwale” in 2015.
