Shah Rukh Khan should be booked for one person death during ‘Raees’ promotion, police tells court

Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Raees’ train promotion which left a man dead, kicked up a row against the actor. This time, he might end up being booked under the IPC section 304 a 2 (causing death due to negligence) as well as sections of Railway Act.

Tarun Barot, Deputy Superintendent of Police (Western Railway), in a report filed to the judicial magistrate, that Shahrukh Khan as well as Excel Entertainment Pvt Ltd, the company which promoted ‘Raees’, should be booked for triggering a stampede and chaos at Vadodara railway station on 23rd January 23 that left one person dead.

The report stated that a stampede-like situation was created because Shah Rukh Khan and his team ignored safety and security guidelines, and threw T-shirts and balls towards the people on the platform.

“If Shah Rukh Khan had not thrown T-shirts, balls and other things towards the public, then such an incident would not have occurred, thus owner of Excel Entertainment Pvt Ltd Mumbai and film actor Shah Rukh Khan should be booked under the IPC sections 279 (rash and negligent act), 336 (act endangering life or personal safety of others), 337 (causing hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others), 338 (causing grievous hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others), 304a2 (causing death by negligence) and sections of Railway Act 145,152,175 and 179,” stated the report, which was shared by the lawyer of Jitendra Solanki, who had lodged a complaint.

On January 23 night, The actor was on a train journey from Mumbai to Delhi to promote his film Raees. He was on-board August Kranti Express, which crossed stations namely Vapi, Surat, Vadodara. A huge crowd had gathered at the station to see the actor.

Farid Khan Pathan, a resident of Hatikhana area of Vadodara, was at the railway station with his wife and daughter, when Shah Rukh was present there for the promotional tour for his film “Raees”. Pathan fell unconscious and upon being rushed to a hospital, was declared dead.

Hours after the incident occurred, some sections blamed Shah Rukh for the tragedy.
