The actress was offended by the end of the film where Rani Padmini (Deepika Paduone) commits Jauhar to safeguard herself from evil Alauddin Khilji. She said that she felt reduced to a vagina by the end of it.

In the letter, Bhasker wrote, “That’s what I felt like at the end of your magnum opus. I felt like a vagina. I felt reduced to a vagina-only.”

Recently, when film’s lead actor Shahid Kapoor who essays the role of Maharawal Ratan Singh in the film was asked about this, he said “Yes, I have come to know that Swara has written a letter, but honestly, I have not yet read it yet, the letter is quite long and we have been busy with other things, but I think this isn’t the right time. ‘Padmaavat’ is representing the film industry and it’s freedom of expression.”

“It has been a tough battle for us to be able to bring forth the film to the audience. It feels great to receive support from the entire industry but it feels odd that someone said something on a personal level. That’s OK though as everyone has the right to say what they want but I haven’t read it yet.” he added.

Meanwhile, Padmaavat is doing high at the box office. The magnum opus, based on 16th century poet Malik Muhammad Jayasi’s Padmavat, stars Deepika Padukone as Rani Padmavati, Ranveer Singh as Alauddin Khilji and Shahid Kapoor as Maharawal Ratan Singh.
