After a former employee of Snapchat alleged that its CEO Evan Spiegel had once called India “too poor” for the social media app, people across the country outraged against him and went on an #uninstallsnapchat spree.
Interestingly, several celebrities also took to social media to express their angst over Spiegel’s contentious remarks.
After Anupam Kher, Bipasha Basu, Urvashi Rautela, Sophie Choudry, Adnan Sami, Raftar, television couple Kishwer Merchant and husband Suyyash Rai also took to Twitter to express their annoyance.

The actors, just before deleting the app from their phone, put up the last video in which Rai explicitly mentions, “I guess we are too poor for it”.

US-based news website Variety on Saturday quoted Snapchat’s ex-employee Anthony Pompliano as saying that Spiegel in September 2015 told him that “the app is only for rich people. I don’t want to expand into poor countries like India and Spain”.
But the company denied the remarks reports of which had resulted in the rating of the popular app dropping to a “single star” from an apparent “five star” on the App Store.
