Yesterday, Abhay Deol went on a Facebook rampage as he kept posting images of fairness cream ads featuring Bollywood stars and pointed out how racism and disdain for dark skin was getting normalised in India thanks to patronage from celebrities and public figures.

He targeted a few celebs Shah Rukh Khan, John Abraham, Shahid Kapoor, Sidharth Malhotra, Deepika Padukone, Sonam Kapoor for featuring in campaigns that promote and sell fairness creams and other such products.

He also mocked at his Aisha and Raanjhana co-star Sonam Kapoor too, for endorsing a fairness product of an international brand. He shared a picture of the advertisement featuring Sonam on his Facebook account and wrote, “But L’Oreal is an international brand, do they show the same racism around the world that they are clearly showing here in India?”

While most of these stars kept quiet and did not respond, Sonam Kapoor, tweeted her defense for featuring in a fairness cream ad. The diva seemed so upset by Abhay’s post about her took to Twitter and thanked her Aisha co-actor for bringing this to the forefront. She further told him that she had done this ad 10 years ago when she didn’t understand the ramifications.

Soon after this, the actress shared another campaign featuring Abhay’s sister Esha Deol and asked Abhay’s thoughts about the same. “I appreciate and concur with your views and would like to know your thoughts on this,” Sonam wrote while sharing the picture on Abhay’s social media account.

The actor was quick to agree and said this “is wrong too”.

In a following tweet, Deol asked Sonam to use her power and take this discussion further than the forefront.”More power to you @sonamakapoor maybe you can use your power as well to take this further than the forefront,” he wrote.

That’s right. Sonam Kapoor deleted all her tweets and as of now, if you go on her Twitter page, you won’t see any of the tweets. Though luckily, you can see the screenshots above you.
