Sonu Nigam tweets against Azaan, calls it “forced religiousness”

Sonu Nigam, who was recently seen as a judge on Indian Idol 9 has made an objectionable statement. The singer, who was woken up by the morning Azaan today, got on to Twitter and posted a rant against it.

The popular playback singer wrote, “God bless everyone. I’m not a Muslim and I have to be woken up by the Azaan in the morning. When will this forced religiousness end in India.”

He also added,  “And by the way Mohammed did not have electricity when he made Islam.. Why do I have to have this cacophony after Edison?

He did not stop writing, I don’t believe in any temple or gurudwara using electricity To wake up people who don’t follow the religion . Why then..? Honest? True?

Sonu even termed the practice as “gundagardi”.

Twitter users, outraged by his comments, are slamming Sonu Nigam on the social networking.
