Rani Mukherji’s father Ram Mukherji died early on Sunday. He was 84. The filmmaker was not keeping well since a long time.
His blood pressure dropped suddenly and he was admitted to Breach Candy hospital where doctors declared him dead at 4 am.
He was the co-founder of Filmalaya Studios and was best-known for directing films like Hum Hindustani and Leader, starring Dilip Kumar and Vyjayanthimala. Mr Mukherjee had also directed and produced Rani’s debut Bengali film Biyer Phool in 1996.
Ram Mukherjee’s cremation was held on Sunday afternoon at the Pawan Hans Crematorium in Vile Parle West.
Rani along with mother Krishna Mukherjee was seen with other family and friends from the industry who came to pay their last respects to Ram Mukherjee.
Rani’s husband and filmmaker Aditya Chopra was also there to pay his last tribute.
