Former External Affairs Minister and BJP leader Sushma Swaraj passes away on August 6 following a cardiac arrest.
The 67-year-old leader was admitted to All India Institute of Medical Sciences in Delhi after complaining of chest pain.
She was the first woman external affairs minister of India. She will be cremated with state honours today.

Hours before her demise, she tweeted to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the move on Jammu & Kashmir.
In a tweet, she wrote, “Thank you Prime Minister. Thank you very much. I was waiting to see this day in my lifetime,”

Smt. Swaraj was one of the strongest women leaders India has ever seen. She was the Union Minister of Foreign Affairs during the Modi government from 2014 – 2019.

The former Minister of External Affairs had a kidney transplant back in the year 2016. She also had to opt out from contesting in the Lok Sabha elections earlier this year owing to health reasons.
She is survived by her husband Swaraj Kaushal and daughter Bansuri.
