Kangana Ranaut and Rajkummar Rao starrer Mental Hai Kya has found itself in trouble as the Indian Psychiatric Society raised objection against the film’s title.

After Indian Psychiatric Society, now Deepika Padukone’s TLLL Foundation has taken to social media to condemn the film for its poster and title.

“It is time we put an end to the use of words, imagery and/or the portrayal of persons with mental illness in a way that reinforces stereotypes.” the foundation tweeted.

In  another tweet, the foundation wrote, “Many millions who suffer with mental illness in India already face tremendous stigma. Therefore,it is extremely important to be responsible and sensitive towards the needs of those suffering.”


Well, this didn’t go down well with Rangoli and she responded, “Dear @TLLLFoundation Ms Ranaut who is recipient of three national awards and one f the driving forces of feminism movement in India through her films like Queen & Manikarnika is one f the most responsible artists,to jump the gun & assume the worse is nothing bt immature..(contd.)”

Mental Hai is produced by Ekta Kapoor and directed by Prakash Kovelamudi. The film also stars Amyra Dastur, Amrita Puri and Jimmy Shergill.

The film is scheduled to hit the screens on June 21.
