The 65th National Film Awards 2018 ceremony held at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi on Thursday. The ceremony got marred by controversy after it was announced that President Ram Nath Kovind will not be giving away awards to all the 140 winners.
Information & Broadcasting Minister Smriti Irani, Minister of State, Information & Broadcasting Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore and Secretary, Information & Broadcasting Narendra Kumar Sinha handed over the awards in the absence of President Kovind.
During the award ceremony, Smriti Irani lost her earring. It all happened, when Smriti was busy in handing over awards. Only then, a media house editor and managing director, Sonal Kalra notice that one earring of Smriti is missing.
She took to Twitter to share this and wrote, “Don’t judge me for noticing such details but you seem to have lost one of your earrings @smritiirani ! Like any fellow woman would say, hope you find it after the function is over #NationalFilmAwards”

In the award ceremony, actor Sridevi posthumously won the Best Actress Award for her role in Hindi film Mom while Bengali actor Riddhi Sen got the Best Actor award for Nagar Kirtan. The Best Feature Film award went to Assamese film Village Rockstars. Actor Vinod Khanna was awarded the Dadasaheb Phalke Award, received by his son Akshaye and wife Kavita.
