Former Indian cricketer V.B. Chandrasekhar passes away

Former India and Tamil Nadu opening batsman V.B. Chandrasekhar was found dead at his home in Chennai on Thursday. He was 57.

According to reports, the cricketer committed suicide at his house in the city on Thursday evening due to debts. The reports said that he was found hanging from the ceiling fan in his bedroom on the first floor.

“He was under a lot of stress due to the debts incurred,” the police official added.

V.B. Chandrasekhar represented India in seven ODIs and his highest score in an inning is 53. He has made 4999 runs in 81 first-class matches of which his highest score is an unbeaten 237 runs. His average score is 43.09 and has made 10 centuries.

He owned a team called VB Kanchi Veerans in the Tamil Nadu cricket league. He was the coach of the Tamil Nadu’s Ranji Team and he was with the game for a long time. He was also the manager of Chennai Super Kings of IPL for the first three years was instrumental in getting World Cup-winning captain M.S. Dhoni to CSK.

Chandrasekhar, popularly called VB, is survived by wife and two daughters.
