After producing India’s first ever underwater film ‘The Ghazi Attack’, Karan Johar is highly likely to produce a film set in the partition era with Varun Dhawan and Arjun Kapoor in it.
As per news source it is a period-drama set in the partition era, directed by “2 States” director Abhishek Varman. The director has been working on the story since two years. Reportedly, Karan asked him to rewrite the entire story as a two-hero project.

Now that the script is almost ready, casting for the film is underway and Varun and Arjun are front runners to play lead roles. They are rumoured to play brothers in the film.
On the same, a source has been quoted by a publication saying, “He is fine-tuning the script at the moment and will be presenting the final draft to Karan in a week’s time. Casting is underway. Contrary to rumours, the film is not on the backburner now. Karan didn’t want to go ahead without the perfect script but things seem to be working out now. The film is expected to go on the floors in the coming months.”
The film was earlier titled “Kalank”. At various intervals names of actors like Shah Rukh Khan, Hrithik Roshan and Sidharth Malhotra were cropping up as solo male lead of the film. But now the film has been scrapped to a two hero project and it has been rechristened to “Shiddat”.
