Vidya Balan to play Indira Gandhi in her biopic, put several films on hold

Bollywood actress Vidya Balan who was last seen in comedy-drama Tumhari Sulu will be next seen in Mission Mangal in which she will star alongside an ensemble star cast of Akshay Kumar, Taapsee Pannu, Sonakshi Sinha, Sharman Joshi, Kirti Kulhari and Nithya Menen.

But after Mission Mangal, we hear the Paa actress is being considered for several projects. However, reports suggest that as of now Vidya has put on hold all the projects as she is currently preparing herself to play former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in a web series based on her life.

Reportedly, the actress will turn producer with this project and has kept herself involved in each and every stage of the process. 

The biopic of Indira Gandhi is based on renowned journalist Rajdeep Sardesai, Sagarika Ghose’s book titled Indira: India’s Most Powerful Prime Minister.

The source further said, “Vidya is extremely passionate and kicked about this project because she has been waiting to play Indira for years now. Each time, she was offered a film on her, it ran into a legal wrangle. Now, she has sorted all of it. She has been meeting the team each day to discuss how to go about the series. Vidya is involved in every stage of the process and that has consumed most of her time. She wants the show to be of a certain standard and position it well.”
