Actor Vidyut Jammwal acquitted in 12-year-old assault case

Bollywood actor Vidyut Jammwal has acquitted in a 12-year-old assault case. Metropolitan Magistrate Court in Bandra, on Monday, acquitted Vidyut Jammwal and his friend Rishant Goswami in a 2007 assault case.

Jamwal and his friend were accused of hitting one Rahul Suri, a resident of Juhu area, with a bottle at a five-star hotel in suburban Santacruz in August 2007.

Reacting on the verdict, Vidyut said, “The action hero is now totally free. The action hero only does ‘action’ in the movies is all I’d like to say.”

Aniket Nikam, Lawyer for Vidyut Jamwal in the case, told news agency ANI: “The case pertains to an allegation levelled against Vidyut Jamwal in the year 2007 of assaulting somebody while he was partying in a club in Mumbai.”

“During the trial, we were able to establish that there was absolutely no incriminating evidence against the actor,” he said, further asserting that “the court has accepted our submissions today and acquitted Jamwal.
