“Two of our youngest volunteers brought him to the centre. What was supposed to be a 10-15 minute visit lasted nearly an hour. We were surprised by the interest and initiative taken by one of the world’s busiest celebrities, as he took so much time out and asked us pertinent questions about adoption and our processes,” says Sudha Narayanan, founder and trustee of the organization.
An interesting observation from the volunteers was that Virat was especially concerned about the way destitute dogs are taken care of and the adoption process and percentage of Indian mongrels and rescued dogs. “We have around 50 destitute dogs in our shelter that we take care of till the end. They took to Virat instantly. He volunteered to passive adopt 15 of these destitute dogs for their care and needs. While most people go for the cutesy ones, Virat chose to specifically take care of the crippled and blind ones,” adds Sudha.

The centre also said that he had passively adopted 15 dogs at CARE and “expressed that we choose those 15 that have special needs, that are paraplegic, blind and chronically ill,” CARE added.
