Bollywood actress Swara Bhaskar who has been vocal about several issues has watched Padmaavat first day first show and writes an open letter to Sanjay Leela Bhansali and slams the director for glorifying sati and jauhar in his film.
The actress was offended by the end of the film where Rani Padmini (Deepika Paduone) commits Jauhar to safeguard herself from evil Alauddin Khilji. She said that she felt reduced to a vagina by the end of it.
In the letter, Bhasker wrote, “That’s what I felt like at the end of your magnum opus. I felt like a vagina. I felt reduced to a vagina-only.”
Swara has got extreme reactions to her letter; while some agreed to what she has penned, some feel otherwise.
Now, director Vivek Agnihotri has expressed his disappointment over Swara’s thoughts on the film. In a strongly-worded tweet he wrote, “We have interviewed many ‘ex-naxal’ women in Bastar. Each has gut-wrenching stories to tell, full of abuse, rape and misogyny. If they marry, they aren’t allowed to have children. I think fake feminist @ReallySwara must make a trip to understand how the Real Vagina feels like.”

“What women need to understand that it’s because of the fake feminists like @ReallySwara that the feminist movement gets jeopardised. You just can’t piss off people and win the most critical war of modern times – the gender empathy,” he wrote in another tweet.

An angry Swara hit back asking if Agnihotri wanted her to get raped? She wrote, “I’m sorry did u just suggest that i go get myself raped?????????? Like seriously? You typed out this tweet Vivek… ?????
