The much-awaited winners’ list of the 64th National Film Awards was announced on Friday morning. Sonam Kapoor-starrer ‘Neerja‘, which was directed by Ram Madhvani, was declared as the Best Hindi Feature Film. Akshay Kumar bagged the Best Actor award for his act in ‘Rustom’.
Sonam Kapoor also got a Special Mention for her performance in ‘Neerja’.
Naturally, both Sonam and Akshay are extremely happy with their win.
Co-incidentally, both of them are shooting in Maheshwar for their upcoming film, Padman. Sonam took to Instagram and posted a picture with Akshay, and we totally love the expression on the duo’s face. Don’t you too? Check this out:

Over 300 films vied for the honours this year. The process to choose the best from Indian cinema began in mid-March. Filmmaker Priyadarshan was the chairperson of the jury in feature films category, while nationally acclaimed cinematographer and writer Raju Misra was the chairperson in non-feature category.
Dangal‘s Zaira Wasim won Best Supporting Actor for playing the younger version of wrestler Geeta Phogat. Amitabh Bachchan’s ‘Pink’ won Best Film on Social Issues. ‘Dhanak’ was named the Best Children Film while Telugu movie ‘Sathamanam Bhavathi’ was chosen as the Popular Film.
Akshay Kumar was last seen in a special appearance in recent release ‘Naam Shabana’ and has two films coming up – Toilet: Ek Prem Katha with Bhumi Pednekar, and the big budget ‘2.0′ starring Rajinikanth. He will also begin work on ‘Padman’, produced by his wife Twinkle Khanna and co-starring Sonam Kapoor.
