After suffering huge losses in Jaipur when the set of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmavati was vandalised by the members of Rajput Karni Sena and the production equipment damaged, the production team received another shock and incurred further losses on 17 March 2017.
The set was burned down and all the costumes were destroyed on the sets in the Masaipathar area, around 15km on the outskirts of Panhala town in Kolhapur district.

Earlier, activists of Rajput Karni Sena protested against the alleged misrepresentation of facts in the film and misbehaved with the crew of ‘Padmavati’ in Jaipur’s Jaigarh Fort.
They also damaged some cameras and other equipment, forcing Bhansali to halt shooting. The film has been on a break since the incidents of January, and the makers have been constructing a new set in Kolhapur.
Padmavati tells the story of Alauddin Khilji, the medieval-era Delhi ruler, who fell in love with Rajput queen Padmavati. Actors Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone and Shahid Kapoor star in the film.
