The trailer of Hansal Mehta’s ‘Simran’ starring Kangana Ranaut in the lead role is finally released and the three times National Award winning actress is back with a bang playing the role of Praful Patel, a Gujarati woman who lives in New York and is a divorcee.
The mannerisms and quirk that Kangana made all of us fall in love with, in 2013’s “Queen”, all make a comeback in the trailer of Simran.
Simran, a Gujarati woman in New York, tells a prospective boyfriend that she is ‘addicted to gambling and stealing’. Director Hansal Mehta and Kangana take us through the various phases of Simran’s story, from scoring a luxury house under ‘minority housing’ to flirting with firangi men with cheesy one-liners.
We get to know Simran who is probably suffering from split personality disorder and is a divorcee. Her father wants Simran to lead a certain life, but she gets violent. That probably ends any further conversation.

In the latter half of the trailer, Simran is seen on a robbery spree with cops chasing her. Seeing her crying at one point too, makes one believe there is a tragic side to her character too.
“Simran” also features Soham Shah, Esha Tewari Pande, Manu Narayan, Aneesha Joshi and Rupinder Nagra in pivotal roles. The film has been extensively shot in the United States.
Produced by Bhushan Kumar, Shailesh R Singh, Krishan Kumar and Amit Agarwal, “Simran” will release in theatres on September 15.
